# One-page strategic plan template

**Short answer:** A one-page strategic plan fits the year on a page: the three things that matter, up to three priorities under each, the behaviours behind them, and what each leader owns. This template splits it into three short pages (where we're going, how we roll, what's my part). Fill it in with the leadership team in about two hours and test it with three questions.

## How do you fill in a one-page strategic plan?

1. Name three things that matter this year, in words a team leader would use (20 minutes).
2. Write up to three priorities under each, with an owner and a date (40 minutes).
3. Write four to six behaviours, each as what someone does at two o'clock on a busy Tuesday (30 minutes).
4. Each leader writes their part for this quarter, tagged to a priority (20 minutes).
5. Test it: ask five people the three questions without notes, and rewrite what they can't say back.

## Draft it with AI

Fill in a short form on this page (what the business does, where you want to be in 12 months, what matters, what gets in the way, the team at its best, leadership roles) and open the prompt in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Copilot. It drafts all three pages and flags what's vague. Nothing is sent to GetSorted. More prompts: https://getsorted.valuebull.com.au/resources/

## The template

**Page one, where we're going:** three things that matter, up to three priorities under each, and what you're stopping.

**Page two, how we roll:** four to six behaviours. Example: "If a customer is waiting, we answer them before we finish the internal email."

**Page three, what's my part:** for each leader, what I own this quarter, which priority it serves, by when, and how we'll know.

**The test:** where are we going, how do we roll, what's my part? Ask five people, no notes.

An editable version is available by email [DEMO form].

## Questions people ask

### What should a one-page strategic plan include?

Where you're going, how you'll behave to get there, and who owns what this quarter.

### Is this the same as the Scaling Up One-Page Strategic Plan?

No. That's a fuller tool. This template is smaller, so people below the leadership team can hold it, and it works alongside EOS, OKRs or Scaling Up.

### How often should we update it?

Page three every quarter, pages one and two every year.
